Royal Military College of Canada
RMC is 150 years old. It was established by an act of the Canadian Parliament in 1874 "for the purpose of providing a complete education in all branches of military tactics, fortification, engineering, and general scientific knowledge in subjects connected with and necessary to thorough knowledge of the military profession".
RMC graduates have established a reputation of service and achievement around the world. From the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, through the South African War, the First and Second World Wars, Korea, and the Persian Gulf, to the latest peacekeeping operations, graduates of RMC have distinguished themselves in all aspects of Canadian military service. Ex-cadets have been similarly prominent in a wide variety of civilian professions.
The life of an Officer Cadet during the vigorous years at the college is dominated by a program made up of 4 interlocking components of achievement: Academics, military, physical fitness and bilingualism.

Program News and Changes
The Regular Officer Training Plan subsidized program provides successful candidates with the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences and Humanities, Science or Engineering.
Applications must be submitted online at the Canadian Armed Forces website.
Applications should be made as early as possible in your final year of high school without necessarily waiting for the results of your first set of examinations. The Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre will require your co-operation in obtaining all high school transcripts.
Scholarships and Awards
Most universities offer scholarships. Unlike having to pay back a loan, you do not need to pay back a scholarship. Universities award scholarships based on academic merit, financial need, extracurricular activities and other distinctions.
You can apply for some scholarships and may be automatically considered for others.
University Events
Universities host events like open houses, campus tours, Student for a Day programs, and virtual tours to help you explore what student life is really like. These events are a great way to experience the campus, connect with current students and faculty, and get a feel for whether a university is the right fit for you.
Offers of Admission
RMC's application process is independent from that of the Ontario Universities' Application Centre. Changes to the Ontario university admission offer date agreement will not affect RMC's admission process.
All applications must be made through the Canadian Armed Forces website. You will be informed of the decision of the Selection Board by mid-May.
All degree programs are available in both English and French. The subjects in the curriculum are selected for their value to future officers in the Canadian Forces. Science and engineering programs have a high proportion of time devoted to the arts, and the arts program has a high proportion of time devoted to mathematics and science.

Academic Accommodations

The Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) gives young Canadians an opportunity to obtain both an officer’s commission in the CAF and an undergraduate degree.
RMC Support Resources
The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Success Centre exists to enhance the quality of life on campus for students, faculty, and staff. The Centre is a one-stop shop offering personalized assistance with various academic skills such as time management, motivation, concentration, and online learning.

Approximately $3,000, including the mandatory meal plan that is automatically deducted from your Officer Cadet salary.
Room Types
The College is fully residential: Cadets live together in a military environment. Cadets are responsible for the administration of many of the activities in their life at RMC. This situation gives all cadets the chance to observe the leadership of others and helps them to learn this art by accepting such responsibilities themselves.
Single rooms are normally provided for fourth-year Officer Cadets. Other senior Cadets are allocated single rooms on a space-available basis. In the first year, Officer Cadets are placed in doubled rooms. All residences are co-educational.
Meals are consumed in the on-campus Cadet Dining Hall. Full recreational facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, are available in close proximity to the residences.
Cadets who are married or have common law status may be authorized by their chain of command to live off-campus. Other cadets who want to rent civilian accommodation must ask permission to live off-campus.

All Officer Cadets, with few exceptions, must reside on campus for their 4 years of study.

There are no fees to apply to attend RMC.
Meal Plans
The RMC Cadet Mess provides facilities for the training of the Cadet Wing in the customs and practices of a Service Mess, and has facilities for social and recreational activities, which are an integral part of college life.
The general administration is carried out by a Cadet Mess Committee with Cadet representation from all years, assisted by a staff advisor from the Cadet Wing. The Mess is conducted in the form of a Service Officers Mess with Cadets filling the responsible positions.
