A subject of major interest is a specialization within a general degree program.
For example, a university might have a degree called "Arts", but through that program, you could potentially study several subjects of major interest, including History, Drama, Economics, English, French, Sociology, Philosophy, etc.
Usually, you will be asked to choose your "subject of major interest" when you apply.

Admission to this program is a 2-part process:
- You are first considered for undergraduate admission to Glendon Campus.
- Applicants who have submitted all required documents by the specified deadlines and received an offer of admission to Glendon by March will advance to the Education Admissions Committee review. The Faculty of Education issues final admission decisions in May.

Additional Admission Criteria
In addition to meeting Glendon’s general undergraduate admission requirements, you must submit an online Supplementary Information Form, including an experience summary, profile, personal statement, two references, and pay a $50 processing fee. This must be done by the April deadline for early consideration or by the May deadline for standard consideration.
Applicants who have submitted all required documents by the specified deadline dates and received an offer of admission to a Glendon undergraduate program by mid-April will advance to the Education Admissions Committee review.
Alternative Offers
If you are not offered admission to the program you applied to but are admissible to another program of study, we may provide an alternative offer of admission. The admission process is competitive. If you are not successful in your Concurrent Bachelor of Education (BEd) application, there is another potential path where you can accept your undergraduate offer to Glendon and re-apply to the Consecutive BEd as an upper-year student.
Admission
Basic Requirements for Admission
The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and six 4U/M/DU courses, including 4U English, are required. Francophone applicants can present 4U French instead of 4U English.
In addition to the successful completion of the above requirements, you must also complete any required prerequisites for your program, and maintain the average used for conditional admission.
Note: Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the university.
Failed and Repeated Courses
Failed courses will be considered. Admissions will review the course with the highest grade.
Repeated courses are accepted. Admissions will consider the course with the highest grade, which may not necessarily be the most recently taken course.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
After applying to the undergraduate program, you will receive an acknowledgement email from York with your York University student number. The email will be sent within 2 business days of receiving your application. You can use your student number to log into York's applicant portal MyFile to track your application status.
York will begin assessing applicants and may make conditional offers of admission as applications are received. At all points in the process, you are encouraged to present as strong an academic profile as possible. It usually takes 4 to 8 weeks for your application to be processed and for a decision to be made.
York will consider 3U/M/DU courses for initial admission purposes. You may be considered for alternative programs if you do not meet the admission requirements of your original choice or if your original program choice is full.

Students who are interested in pursuing an international Bachelor of Arts (iBA) or an international Bachelor of Science (iBSc) through this program can discuss this option with an academic advisor once enrolled at Glendon.
Note: Admission criteria are identical to those of the BSc or BA.
