- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status or an international student.
- Be admitted as a full-time student to first year at the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section, of the University of Ottawa.
- Demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa.
- Be a racialized person (member of a visible minority), defined as a person other than Indigenous (Aboriginal), who is non-white in colour or race, regardless of place of birth or citizenship; or provide documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure.
