- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status, or an international student.
- Be admitted to an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section, of the University of Ottawa.
- Demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa.
- Be involved in the Black community.
- Self-identify as a member of a Black community.
- Show perseverance in the face of adversity.

- Submit the Curriculum Vitae created on Online Scholarships and Bursaries.
- Write a letter from the applicant (max. 500 words) describing their involvement in the Black community as well as the perseverance they have shown in the face of adversity.
