Subjects of Major Interest
A subject of major interest is a specialization within a general degree program.
For example, a university might have a degree called "Arts", but through that program, you could potentially study several subjects of major interest, including History, Drama, Economics, English, French, Sociology, Philosophy, etc.
Usually, you will be asked to choose your "subject of major interest" when you apply.

Additional Admission Criteria
To apply to the Catholic Studies for Teachers program, indicate your subject of major interest as Catholic Studies for Teachers. A supplemental application is required.
Admission
Basic Requirements for Admission
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- A minimum of 6 grade 12U/M level courses (excluding co-op), including English (ENG4U)
- Proof of English Language Proficiency if English is not your first language
- All your completed and in-progress Grade 11U/M level courses
- Requirements specific to your program (required courses or supplemental forms)
- If you are registered to take a course outside of your home school, make sure it is Ministry-accredited. Grades must be reported through the OUAC.
Failed and Repeated Courses
If you fail and repeat a course or choose to upgrade a particular course, King's will use the higher of the 2 grades presented when calculating the admission average.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
King's will extend offers of admission, scholarships and residence to students with strong academic transcripts in rounds beginning in November and continuing into July as more grades are received. We will review your application every single round. Typically, the last round is in July once final grades are received. You must be enrolled in, or have completed the prerequisite courses for your programs of choice. There is no disadvantage to getting an offer in the later rounds, so do not worry if you do not hear back early.

King’s does not have automatic alternative offers of admission. If you wish to be considered for more than 1 program, list each program as a separate choice on your OUAC application.
