Programs Requiring Prior University Study

(i) A 3-year General or a 4-year Honours Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.

(ii) Ontario Grade 12 “U” Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus and Geometry and Discrete

Mathematics or equivalent courses.

Two years of university study and prerequisites are required. Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, community involvement and work experience are also important parts of the application.

The Ivey Honours Business Administration (HBA) Program is a 2+2 program, which means you can study in any faculty at Western or another recognized university for your first 2 years, followed by 2 years of concentrated business study at Ivey. No other undergraduate business program provides you with the opportunity to explore as many different career paths as the Ivey Honours Business Administration (HBA).

Several combined degree options between Ivey and other faculties at Western are also available for you to explore.

You can apply for conditional admission to Ivey during your last year of high school as part of the Ivey Advanced Entry Opportunity (AEO) or apply from university.

The study of canon law mainly consists of the study of the Code of Canon Law. A number of disciplines are related to this subject: Theology of canon law, philosophy of law, fundamental concepts of Roman law, elements of civil law, history of the fundamental canonical structures of canon law, history of the sources of canon law, the relationship between the Church and civil society, and canonical administrative and judicial practice. We also offer an introduction to the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches and the study of Latin, as well as optional courses, exercises and seminars.

Offered by the Faculty of Canon Law, the ecclesiastical programs in Canon Law also allow students to receive civil degrees, such as the Graduate Diploma in Canon Law, Graduate Diploma in Canonical Practice or Graduate Diploma in Ecclesiastical Administration and the Master's in Canon Law.

The Certificate in Digital Communication (CDC) helps students understand the best practices of social media, virtual worlds and emerging forms of online communication. Based on practical explorations of media theory, this program is ideal for students who want to pursue a career in digital communications. It's also geared towards students who want to augment their professional or academic pursuits with a powerful set of tools and competencies that include the following:

• - principles and production of social media, digital media and virtual worlds
• - online information and organization
• - creating and overseeing digital content
• - theoretical and practical application of virtual worlds and simulated spaces
• - producing and managing online communities
• - gaming, social networking, social movements, search engines, graphic design, digital imaging and website design

The Certificate in Digital Communication is open to any student who is currently completing an undergraduate degree at Western. The Certificate may be combined with any module/program and students across all disciplines are invited to apply.

The Certificate in Ethics is a program of study that may be completed in conjunction with any module in Philosophy (with the exception of a Minor in Ethics). Offered through Western University's Department of Philosophy, the certificate is being offered as a response to a wide and growing interest in the ethical dimensions of professional and public life.

The purpose of this program is to enable participants to strengthen and develop their understanding of ethics so as to enhance their ability to recognize and respond to ethical issues in a wide variety of social settings.

The Certificate in Ethics will educate students in the essential concepts, central issues, history and methodologies of ethical reasoning. The program also emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills, writing skills and verbal skills.

The Certificate in Ethics is a program of study that may be completed while pursuing an undergraduate degree at Western.

The CNPSS is 5.0 credit program is administered by the School of Public Policy and Administration. Currently, courses in the Nunavut Certificate are offered in partnership with Nunavut Sivuniksavut, a postsecondary program for Inuit from Nunavut. Courses in the program include Public Administration in Nunavut and options such as Qualitative Research Methods.

This Certificate program is designed primarily for prospective or practicing public employees in Nunavut who seek special training in public service subjects at the undergraduate level. Courses taken for the Certificate may be credited towards a Bachelor of Arts degree. A transfer student from the Certificate program into the Bachelor of Arts program normally will be required to take at least 10.0 further credits. At least 5.0 of the credits required for the degree must be completed after awarding of the Certificate.

Begin your German studies in first year with German 1030 and graduate with a Practical Certificate in German (3.0 courses).

Become proficient in one of the most important languages of the European union through 3 streamlined full-year language and culture courses that you can compliment with optional half-courses in conversation, business German, translation or culture. The Practical Certificate in German will be an asset to careers in business, science, including environmental science and the arts.

Develop a proficiency in the language and complement your major in another subject. The certificate, open to all undergraduate students, strengthens applications of a student who intends to pursue careers or graduate study in areas where another language would be useful.

Open to all students at the University, the Certificate in Professional Communication aims to develop students' writing abilities in workplace writing genres. All program courses may be credited toward other undergraduate programs. Any undergraduate student may apply for admission, subject to prerequisites and general university entrance requirements.

The CTESL program, offered by Carleton’s School of Linguistics and Language Studies, is one of Canada’s oldest and best-known TESL programs. The CTESL program includes courses in theory and methodology, as well as a practicum that includes opportunities for classroom observation and supervised teaching in a variety of settings.

With the proper course selection, the program may be taken simultaneously with the 4-year Honours program in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies, or with other majors, allowing you to graduate with both a degree and a certificate at the same time. You can also pursue this program as a post-degree certificate.

The CTESL program concentrates on teaching English to adults, either in Canada or abroad. It is widely recognized in Canada as a qualification to teach ESL at the postsecondary level in private language schools, colleges and universities. Overseas, it can lead to teaching positions at the elementary and secondary school levels, as well as at the adult level.

The Certificate in Theatre Arts provides training in drama and theatrical performance that meets the requirements for Drama as a teachable subject in the Faculty of Education.

In addition to 2.0 courses that study drama as a literary genre, the Certificate requires participation as a member of either the cast or crew for the Department of English and Writing Studies' Annual Fall Theatre Production (English 2041F/G), 0.5 course in Canadian drama with an emphasis on performance and pedagogy (English 3776F/G), and two 0.5-credit summer courses offered in partnership with and on the campus of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Theatre Studies 3206F/G and Theatre Studies 3207F/G).

Open to all students in the University, the Certificate Program in Writing aims to develop students' general writing ability. All program courses may be credited toward other undergraduate programs. Any undergraduate student may apply for admission, subject to prerequisites and general university entrance requirements.

Accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing, Trent's BScN offers aspiring nurses the option of pursuing either a collaborative or compressed degree with an emphasis on a holistic approach to healthcare, spanning a variety of nursing contexts.

Learn at Trent's state-of-the-art Life and Health Sciences facility, home to simulation labs that include the leading-edge Clinical Simulation Learning Centre, a maternal/child and community care simulation space. Develop a strong understanding of social justice and political advocacy in the health care environment by choosing courses with topics ranging from aging to mental health, Indigenous communities, and rural and women's health.

The compressed 28-month BScN degree is a fast-track program for students who have completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree.

University graduates with a 3-year General, 4-year Major or 4-year Honours degree (from a discipline other than Computer Science) may apply to the BCS (General) degree for university graduates.

Saint Paul University offers programs leading to a Master of Arts (MA) in Conflict Studies, which is conferred jointly by the Senates of Saint Paul University and the University of Ottawa.

The focus of the program is on the ethnic and religious identity distinctions that characterize many deep-rooted conflicts. The program explores the meaning of, and generates processes for, reconciliation, healing and structural change. It combines a social science orientation common to Conflict Studies programs with a philosophical, ethical and theological orientation.

The Faculty of Human Sciences at Saint Paul University offers programs leading to a Graduate Diploma in Couple Counselling and Spirituality, a Graduate Diploma in Supportive Care and Spirituality in Palliation and a Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling and Spirituality, all conferred jointly by the Senates of Saint Paul University and of the University of Ottawa, with which Saint Paul is federated.

The objective of these programs is to train specialists to counsel and guide couples or individuals with regard to their values and their spirituality, as well as both their individual and couple dynamics.

This program is intended for students with 1 year of undergraduate studies since it is not a direct-entry program from high school. You may apply after completing your first 48 credits and before completing your first 78 credits by presenting a portfolio containing work in both poetry and prose fiction, as evidence of writing experience.
