Additional Admission Criteria
A high school transcript is just 1 piece of information Queen's University uses when making an admission decision. Each applicant to Queen's has a personalized To Do List, detailing exactly what is needed to complete their application. Students can review their To Do List (and associated due dates) on their Queen's SOLUS Student Centre. Applicants to Commerce, Health Sciences, and Nursing are required to complete a Supplementary Application. Students will receive instructions for accessing SOLUS and their Supplementary Application after they apply.
Alternative Offers
Queen’s does not make alternate offers of admission. Applicants will be considered only for the program(s) to which they have applied (or amended) via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) by the published deadlines.
Admission
All offers of admission made to Ontario high school students by Queen’s University, prior to receiving final grades and completing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), are conditional. Decisions can be based on final Grade 11 results (with registration in appropriate Grade 12 courses), final first semester Grade 12 results and/or Grade 12 interim results.
Basic Requirements for Admission
The OSSD and six 4U/M courses, including English 4U, are required. Please review the specific program requirements for more details, as some programs require additional courses at the U-level. Average calculation is based on prerequisite subjects, plus the next best 4U/M courses, for a total of 6 courses.
Note:
- Students in francophone schools may offer EAE4U or FRA4U in place of ENG4U.
- The Engineering admission average is calculated using only the 5 prerequisite courses.

Failed and Repeated Courses
Ontario universities support full disclosure of all marks achieved in all attempts at a high school course. At Queen’s, all undergraduate programs will use the most recent grade achieved when calculating the admission average.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
Admission decisions will be made once all required documentation is submitted to Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment. March 31 is the deadline to submit all documents including English test scores and transcripts for students studying outside of Ontario (not including the Supplementary Application). Queen's receives Ontario high school grades from the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) by April 30.
Admission decisions will be made on an ongoing basis from early November to mid-May. Ontario high school students are required to respond to offers of admission by June 1.
