Artificial Intelligence (BAH or BSc): Responding to today’s rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) worldwide, Trent University Durham GTA’s new AI degree, featuring an optional one-year coop term, will prepare students to navigate the complex conceptual, technical, ethical and institutional challenges posed by the expanding career opportunities in AI and its applications. Students will have the option to pursue either a BA or BSc in AI, based on their interests and future career plans. Graduates will be well-rounded, with an understanding of both the technical aspects and the broader implications of AI, and well-prepared for career success in AI-related areas or further study in graduate programs.*Subject to Quality Council and Ministry Approvals
Climate Change Science & Policy (BSc): As one of the only climate change-specific degree programs offered in Canada, Trent’s Climate Change Science & Policy BSc educates students through an applied, solutions-oriented approach. In our program, you will become an expert who can take action in a variety of fields to respond to the threats posed by climate change. Integrating subjects in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics, politics and business, this multidimensional degree helps students develop a deeper understanding of this complex problem and its potential solutions. Enrich your learning and career aspirations through opportunities to work directly with climate experts in field studies, undergraduate research and job placements.
Financial Science (BSc): Trent’s comprehensive Financial Science program – the only one of its kind in Canada – gives high-achieving students a foundation in the theory and practical techniques for modeling and managing the complexities of modern financial challenges. Here you will apply skills in mathematics, statistics, economics, business, and computing to analyze investment industry trends and implement real-world data models, setting you up for an exciting career in an increasingly complex financial world. You will develop industry-standard financial skills using modern software and digital platforms, including Bloomberg terminals. And you can gain 12 months of work experience in the industry through the 4-year co-op stream, working in accounting, investment analysis, actuarial consulting, brokering or other roles.
Health & Behaviour (BSc): Featuring courses in Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Sociology, and the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing, this program introduces students to a multidisciplinary understanding of health and wellness. A strong emphasis on research, community-based learning, and practical application means you’ll develop a solid foundation for interpreting data and how to apply it to challenging health issues. You will also develop the critical and analytical thinking skills needed to become a health and wellness leader, integrating behavioural theories into real-world scenarios and applications.
Human Rights (BA): Develop your critical thinking skills by examining human rights and social justice through the lens of feminism, anti-racism, Indigenous Knowledge, sexual diversity and class-based discrimination. With many opportunities for applied learning and career experience, such as research, paid co-op, global field placements in Ghana and Bolivia, you’ll also strengthen your skills and résumé for challenging human injustices here at home and abroad.
Law & Arts/Law & Business: Trent/Swansea Dual Degree (LLB & BA or LLB & BBA): In this one-of-a-kind program, you will graduate with 2 degrees in just 6 years – a Bachelor of Arts Honours or a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Trent, and a law degree from Swansea University's renowned Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. You’ll have the chance to take your education global while you live, learn, travel, explore and live abroad in the UK.
Chemical Engineering Dual Degree (BSc Chemistry & BEng): Through this unique international dual degree program, you’ll earn a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Trent and a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Swansea University in Wales — graduating with both degrees in just four years. Spend the first 2 years practicing modern experimental and theoretical chemistry in Trent's world-class labs and instrumentation facilities, including organic, analytical and spectroscopy labs. In your third year, travel across the ocean to Swansea’s seaside campus to complete a Chemical Engineering degree at one of the top 10 engineering schools in the United Kingdom. This program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry and includes numerous hands-on training, work experience, and graduate opportunities in Canada and the UK. You can also apply to graduate with a Master's in Engineering, adding just 1 more year to the dual degree – an option available to top students in their third or fourth year at Swansea.
Kinesiology (B.Sc.Kin.): Interactive and multidisciplinary, Trent’s 4-year BSc degree goes beyond the standard Kinesiology program. You’re encouraged to get hands-on – in the lab and out in the community – working with everyone from Olympic hopefuls to senior citizens. Get advanced clinical and practical perspective through courses integrated with Trent’s Nursing program, as well as classes in biomechanics, anatomy, physiology and more. By the time you graduate, you’ll have developed the expertise necessary to become a registered kinesiologist.
Software Engineering Co-op (BSc): As the global demand for software skills continues to grow and evolve, this new stand-alone degree program – one of only 2 Software Engineering programs at Ontario universities to be offered through a Computer Science department – features extensive paid co-op opportunities, providing you with a streamlined pathway to the workforce, and equipping you with the relevant interpersonal and technical skills to succeed. The program differs from a traditional Bachelor of Engineering credential as it looks at the subject area through a cross-departmental lens. As a result, when you enter the workforce upon graduation, you will be well trained in specialized Software Engineering skills and knowledge, as well as educated in complementary disciplines, like Computer Science and Information Systems. Here you will study a range of subjects, including object-oriented programming, algorithms and data structures, systems software, cross platform applications, software architecture and design, software quality, web development and computer security.
