Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University)
Whether you have a clear vision for your future or you’re still exploring your options, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is the place for you. We’re entrepreneurial, nimble, and continuously refining our programs and methods of teaching to ensure we meet societal needs — both for today and the future. Our students are driven and determined to make our community, city and the world that surrounds us a better place.
We draw inspiration from our surroundings in the centre of downtown Toronto, where you’ll find unparalleled opportunities to learn, work and play on every block. Here you’ll connect with Canada’s leaders in business, health care, government, research and media in the classroom and through experiential learning opportunities. Through co-ops, internships, field placements, specialized labs, performances, industry competitions and our Zone Learning programs, you’ll have real-world applications integrated into your studies.
Think like an innovator
Graduate with a strong academic foundation and valuable experience to own your future, through TMU’s focus on experiential learning. In addition to program opportunities, join Zone Learning, a collection of courses, programs and workshops where you can learn an innovation mindset and develop or support a start-up. Each zone focuses on a different industry, and gives students the chance to shape initiatives from the ground up and join a world-leading incubator community. Use the zones to create your own project, get work experience or build your network beyond your program and our campus.

A vibrant and growing campus
TMU is reshaping the downtown Toronto core with award-winning multi-use buildings. Our campus is home to the iconic Sheldon & Tracy Levy Student Learning Centre (SLC), which shares a symbolic and physical connection to the University Library. Additional recent developments include the Centre for Urban Innovation, the Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens), the Image Centre and the School of Image Arts.
Our newest building is the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex, a multi-use building with student residence spaces, four Faculty of Community Services schools and The Creative School’s Design + Technology LAB. With future plans for a new Student Wellbeing Centre and additional scholarly and research spaces, we continue to build high-quality spaces that promote health and wellbeing for our community.
