Nipissing University

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is part of our Schulich School of Education and meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification (Certificate of Qualification). It is open to applicants who present proof of graduation with an approved undergraduate degree from an accredited university.

Applicants can apply to the following divisions:
  • - Primary/Junior (Kindergarten to Grade 6)
  • - Primary/Junior (Kindergarten to Grade 6) – French as a Second Language*
  • - Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4 to 10)
  • - Intermediate/Senior (Grades 7 to 12)

*Students who graduate with the P/J FSL BEd degree will be qualified to teach French as a second language (i.e., core, extended and immersion) Grades K-12.

Nursing - Post RPN

Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program offer students a unique, flexible and collaborative education through its many partnerships, as well as 3 unique, educational pathways to obtain a professional nursing degree. As a BScN student, you will gain relevant nursing theory and professional knowledge provided by a university education, along with practical experience in diverse clinical settings.

In addition to the 4-year traditional BScN degree program, Nipissing offers the following programs for graduates of a Practical Nurse (PN) program.

Nipissing University offers currently employed Registered Practical Nurses the opportunity to complete the BScN degree through a blended delivery option. Admission consideration will be given to applicants who have successfully completed a Practical Nurse (PN) diploma (not certificate) program from a recognized college with a minimum overall average of 70%. Applicants must also be a current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as an RPN and be an employee (with a letter of support) of one Nipissing’s partner health care agencies. This is a limited-enrollment program. The minimum GPA required for admission consideration may be higher than the stated minimum. There are 2 intakes per year (January and September). This program can be completed either part-time or through a flex-time fast-track pathway. The part-time pathway 5 years or 15 semesters. The flex-time fast-track pathway can be completed in 3 ½ years or 10 semesters.

Nipissing University offers graduates of a Practical Nurse (PN) diploma program the opportunity to complete the BScN degree through a 3-year (six semesters), full-time compressed program. Admission consideration will be given to graduates of a two-year Practical Nurse (PN) diploma with a minimum overall GPA of 70% from an Ontario college. This is a limited-enrollment program. The minimum GPA required for admission consideration may be higher than the stated minimum. There is 1 intake per year (September).

Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Business Administration

This is a general management post-degree diploma program. The primary purpose of this diploma is to provide a 2-year learning experience for students wishing to build upon their current education with business courses.

Admission consideration will be given to applicants with a minimum three-year undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a minimum overall average of 70%. Applicants possessing an undergraduate degree in Business will be given admission consideration to an area of study in business other than the 1 studied within their undergraduate degree. Applicants to the Post-Baccalaureate diploma programs in Business are not eligible to receive transfer credits for previously completed courses. All courses in the diploma program admitted to must be completed in order to meet graduation requirements. International applicants must have at least 6 credits of university English and/or Communications (at a recognized English language university in an English-speaking country) prior to admission or have met Nipissing University's English language proficiency requirements through the acceptable English language tests. The English/Communication courses and/or English language tests must have been completed within the 2 years prior to attending Nipissing University. Domestic applicants with international education may be required to meet the English/Communication requirement unless otherwise exempt under Nipissing’s English Language Proficiency policy.

Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Finance

This is a post-degree diploma program in Finance for students who wish to build upon their current education with Finance and other related business courses.

Admission consideration will be given to applicants with a minimum three-year undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a minimum overall average of 70%. Applicants possessing an undergraduate degree in Business will be given admission consideration to an area of study in business other than the 1 studied within their undergraduate degree. Applicants to the Post-Baccalaureate diploma programs in Business are not eligible to receive transfer credits for previously completed courses. Students will have the option to complete an international special project/field-based consulting project during the program.

Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Open to international applicants only The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is designed for international students and will provide them with an advanced, state-of-the-art knowledge of new computational techniques and paradigms, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, advanced visualization and graphics, and data science. This program will enhance students’ knowledge of emerging and increasingly important interdisciplinary professions in areas ranging from data analytics, “Big Data”, high performance computing and parallel computing, game artificial intelligence and other game technologies, geomatics and geographic information systems, and computational tools and techniques in the humanities. Students are prepared to undertake careers in software development, data science, scientific computing, scientific software engineering, game development, and machine learning engineering. Admission consideration will be given to applicants who have graduated with an undergraduate degree in computer science or a cognate discipline (e.g., Data Science, Informatics) with an overall average of 70% or higher.

Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Environment and Sustainability

Nipissing University

Open to international applicants only The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Environment and Sustainability is designed for international students who have an undergraduate degree in a complementary science discipline and want to pursue employment in the environmental sector or graduate studies in the environment in Canada. This program will provide extended science training on the environment and an introduction to the environmental sector in Canada. Admission consideration will be given to applicants who have graduated with an undergraduate degree in science and/or engineering or equivalent with an overall average of 70% or higher.

Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Health and Social Impact

Nipissing University

Open to international students only The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Health and Social Impact is geared towards applicants who wish to obtain additional qualifications enabling them to gain valuable experience within the field of global health. This interdisciplinary program reflects the unique characteristics of sustainable health service provision in Canada. Admission consideration will be given to applicants who have graduated with an undergraduate degree with a minimum overall average of 70% or higher.

Social Work

Nipissing University

Nipissing University offers a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program that prepares students for the practice of social work through the development of competencies in working to effect change in a variety of situations that affect individuals, families, groups, organizations or communities.

Students will develop a knowledge base related to the ways in which social, cultural and institutional contexts influence human behaviour and shape social work interventions and how social structures benefit and disadvantage various segments of society. In addition to fostering intervention skills related to individuals, groups, families, communities and policies, students will develop a critical awareness of the role of social work in the development, maintenance and resolution of social and personal troubles.

Applicants must apply for admission to the professional years (Years 3 and 4) of the program. The professional years are open to both Nipissing and non-Nipissing students.

Admission to the professional years of the Bachelor of Social Work is limited and based on both academic and non-academic criteria.

Admission consideration is determined on the following criteria:

Admission consideration will be given to applicants who have completed or will be in the position to complete 60 credits (10 full-course equivalents), including SWRK-1007 (or equivalent), SWRK-2006 (or equivalent), SWRK-2106 (or equivalent), SWLF-1006 (or equivalent) and 6 credits (1 full course equivalent) in Humanities by the end of April 2025. A minimum of 70% is required in each of SWRK-1007, SWRK-2006, SWRK-2106 and SWLF-1006. If admitted, a final transcript indicating that all courses have been completed and required grades/averages have been met must be received by June 30, 2025.

Applicants who have completed course(s) not listed and wish to have them evaluated for equivalency should contact the Admissions Office at admissions@nipissingu.ca.
