Established in 1863, Huron is the founding institution of Western University. Our Liberal Arts University offers a prestigious – yet accessible – education, where personalized learning experiences position students for professional success while also developing their character.
Huron is creating a university experience unlike any other, one that prioritizes ethical leadership and community engagement as much as the pursuit of academic achievement. With an average class size of just 30, Huron students enjoy lots of interaction with professors and classmates. Those who graduate from Huron receive a Western University degree.
While studying at Huron, each student can take advantage of paid internships, professional networking events and more. In addition to paid internships, Huron’s vision is to ensure that every student experiences the value of civic engagement through volunteer activities and service prior to graduating.
The Scotiabank Career Accelerator Program (CAP) is an elite program that will build your career confidence and help you distinguish yourself as a workforce-savvy, emerging leader. Participants will take part in training modules, workshops and hands-on experiences that will complement their degrees by preparing them with workplace-readiness skills. Throughout the process, they will be fully supported by Huron’s Career Development Coordinators.
Huron also offers Dual Degree programs with the Ivey Business School at Western. Students can complete Ivey's HBA program and a BA Degree in an Honors Specialization module over a span of 5 years. Students can combine their undergraduate program at Huron with a program at any of the campuses within Western, giving students flexibility and choice. Huron has been challenging students to be Leaders with Heart since 1863.

NEW: Animal Ethics and Sustainability Leadership
Turn your love for animals and passion for the environment into a degree that deepens your knowledge and prepares you to lead. The first program of its kind, AESL builds your understanding of pressing animal and environmental issues, along with the management and leadership skills you need to be career-ready.
NEW: Chinese Studies
Students in Huron’s Chinese Program experience all aspects of the language: Listening, speaking, reading and writing in modern standard Chinese. A primary goal is to provide a solid foundation in pronunciation and grammar, as well as basic composition and conversation. Senior courses facilitate students attaining competence in reading authentic modern writings, with the aid of a dictionary. For students who have attained fluency, elective courses are offered to explore specific aspects of the Chinese language and culture in film, business, literature and communication.
Scholarships and Awards
Most universities offer scholarships. Unlike having to pay back a loan, you do not need to pay back a scholarship. Universities award scholarships based on academic merit, financial need, extracurricular activities and other distinctions.
You can apply for some scholarships and may be automatically considered for others.
University Events
Universities host events like open houses, campus tours, Student for a Day programs, and virtual tours to help you explore what student life is really like. These events are a great way to experience the campus, connect with current students and faculty, and get a feel for whether a university is the right fit for you.
Offers of Admission
Requirements for Admission
- The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Six 4U/M courses, including ENG4U and any other prerequisite courses specified by Huron
- The required admission average
- English-language proficiency (where applicable)
Failed and Repeated Courses
If a course was taken more than once, the highest reported successful grade in the course will be used in the admission average calculation.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
We will extend offers of admission in late December/early January to students who display strong academic results in Grade 11 and the first term of Grade 12. You must complete or be enrolled in prerequisite courses for the program to which you apply. Offers will continue until programs are full and will be based only on 4U/M midterms and final grades.
All offers of admission are conditional upon successfully completing the OSSD and maintaining a minimum final average on required courses, as outlined in the offer of admission. Admission averages will be based on the best six 4U/M grades, including prerequisite courses. If you are not eligible for the Management and Organizational Studies program, you will automatically be considered for an alternative offer to Social Science.
Personal Statement
Huron has one of the highest entering admission averages among the most elite institutions in Canada. The increasing competitiveness of our application process is a reflection of the demand for character-based education. Not only do we admit students who are top of their class academically, but students who take the initiative to better their communities and demonstrate their commitment to being a Leader with Heart. Through the application process, students can include a personal statement to let us know more about why they want to attend Huron and include their contributions outside of the classroom, in addition to their academic record. Our Admissions Team works one-on-one with our applicants throughout the entire application process.
Extenuating Circumstances
This Special Consideration Profile allows applicants to share any extenuating circumstances that have adversely affected their school record. Completing this form allows these circumstances to be considered while reviewing a student's application and academic record for admission. Please note that submission of this form is voluntary.

Chapel Services
Huron University’s Chapel is a beautiful space on campus, where many events—including non-faith-based activities—are held.
There is no requirement for our students to engage in religious components, as part of their education or extracurricular activities, but we warmly welcome people from every background and faith to be involved with our community, both inside and outside the Chapel, as best aligns with their values and lived experiences.
Indigenous Student Centre
Indigenous Services (IS) helps students with submitting an application, selecting programs and courses and accessing special admission under Western’s Aboriginal Access Admission Category.
IS also provides extended support to Indigenous students through its Academic Transition Opportunities program, which offers academic, personal and cultural services, including:
- orientation
- tutors on a weekly basis
- workshop series
- regular meetings with an academic counsellor.

Full-year meal plan amount: $6,829.90
All students living in residence must participate in the meal plan. The meal plan is based on an "all-you-care-to-eat" system. The set price covers all meals, every day, for the entire academic year.
