Subjects of Major Interest
A subject of major interest is a specialization within a general degree program.
For example, a university might have a degree called "Arts", but through that program, you could potentially study several subjects of major interest, including History, Drama, Economics, English, French, Sociology, Philosophy, etc.
Usually, you will be asked to choose your "subject of major interest" when you apply.

Alternative Offers
To give students options, we often provide Alternate Offers of Admission when students don’t yet qualify for their preferred program choices. Rest assured that we will continue to assess all applications to all program choices as we receive new information (i.e. mid-term grades from 2nd semester, night school and virtual course grades) and as space permits.

Admission
Basic Requirements for Undergraduate Admission
Ontario high school students must present the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and complete 6 grade 12 4U/M courses. The top 6 courses will be used in the calculation of a student's overall admission average. All programs require a minimum admission average (typically 70%), which may change from year to year, depending on the number of applicants and available seats. A secondary average may be used for specific programs which require academic strength in specific subjects. For example, Nursing applicants have a secondary average requirement which includes Chemistry and Biology course grades.

For consideration: International applicants are required to have a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) to support their study permit application. To receive a PAL, students must first confirm their offer of admission and pay an international tuition fee deposit.
Failed and Repeated Courses
The highest achieved grade for a repeated course will be used in the average calculation.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
UWindsor makes admission decisions for most programs from early November to July. Admission to programs that require the completion of supplemental applications or auditions will be considered after these activities are completed. If you need to complete a supplemental application, you will be alerted when your OUAC application is received. All Group A applicants have until the common response deadline (June 1, 2027), to accept their offer of admission.
Depending on the program, early admission may be provided based on a minimum 80% in final Grade 11 (3U/M) marks, and registration in a minimum of 6 Grade 12 (4U/M) courses, including prerequisites.
Consideration for provisional admission from late January through June is based on a combination of final Grade 11 marks and final or in-progress Grade 12 marks.
Provisional admission requires final grades in a minimum of three 4U/M courses and registration in at least 6 including all 4U prerequisites. Provisional offers will be conditional upon completion of the OSSD. For admission purposes, the average of a minimum of three 4U/M courses, regardless of the number completed or in progress, will be calculated.
If you are not considered for early admission, you will be considered for provisional admission based on the average of your best six 4U/M courses, interim or final, following receipt of interim (late-April) and/or final grades.
If you are not accepted into the program of your choice at UWindsor, you will automatically be considered for alternatives. Alternate offers of admission are typically given beginning in March. We automatically re-assess applicants for their preferred program(s) as new mid-term or final grades are received.

BScN Program for Graduates of Ontario College Practical Nursing Program – Degree Completion Pathway
- Qualified students will be given one year of credit for their previously completed 2-year diploma in Practical Nursing that includes all relevant clinical experiences.
- Each student who enters the program will complete accredited courses from years one and two of the collaborative nursing program at the site to which they were admitted (University of Windsor or St. Clair College).
- The courses that have been selected bridge the gap between what was previously studied and what needs to be completed to enter year three of the BScN program.
- Students will be required to demonstrate competency with their health assessment skills prior to entering their first clinical experience in the program.
