Civil Engineering (Co-op admission only)

Basic Requirements for Admission

1. Ontario Secondary School Diploma
2. Six 4U/M courses including the required courses for your chosen degree.
3. ENG4U (required for all degree programs)

We use your top 6 completed 4U/M (or equivalent) courses, including required courses, to calculate your admission average. Where not available, we use a combination of the top 6 completed or in-progress 4U/M and completed 3U/M courses, including required subjects.

All offers are conditional upon completion of the OSSD, required courses for your program of interest, and a final admission average as outlined in your offer.

All admission conditions must be fulfilled by August 14, 2027.

Supplemental Application Forms 

We recognize that non-academic factors play an important role in your life. High school applicants may choose to submit one or both of the following forms:

• Student Profile Form (SPF): This is your opportunity to tell Admission Services about activities that demonstrate leadership and citizenship qualities, and to outline factors beyond your control that have affected your academic performance, such as illness or extenuating circumstances.
• Supplementary Information Form for Students with Disabilities (SIF-D): If you feel your admission average does not reflect your true academic ability as a result of a disability, you are encouraged to complete this form.

If your admission average in May does not meet the cut-off for the program you have applied to, we may consider these forms along with academics if your average falls within a discretionary range of the final cut-off. Submission is optional but strongly encouraged.

If you are applying to the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program or the Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management, you need to submit the Background Information Form as part of your application.  You can learn more about these mandatory forms on our website.

Failed and Repeated Courses

The University of Guelph will use the highest grade reported from a Ministry-approved institution for any repeated courses.

Timing and Process for Admission Decisions

If you are applying directly from high school, you will be considered for admission on an ongoing basis, beginning in November. Offers will be released on an ongoing basis from November to May. Exceptions: Offers to the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program will be made from late-April to mid-May.)
