Dr. Ferdinand and Mrs. Emelda Thomas Entrance Award

This award will be granted to a student who is a graduate of a school that has participated in the York University Westview Partnership (Westview Centennial Secondary School, C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute, Emery Collegiate Institute, James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School and North Albion Collegiate Institute).

To be considered, applicants must fulfill the following criteria: i) be first-generation Canadian (i.e., parents born in a country other than Canada); ii) be entering a direct-entry undergraduate program with a minimum admission average of 75% (or equivalent); and iii) have made contributions to student life by volunteering in their high school or community.

The recipient must also be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant) or protected person, as well as a resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.
