You must be a high school student entering a first-year program at York University with an admission average of 90%. You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant) or protected person.
Upon receiving this award, you are not eligible for the York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship. To renew, you must achieve a minimum grade point average of 8.0 and complete a minimum of 24 credits each academic year (prior to summer, fall/winter sessions).

No application is required. Each year, a recipient is selected from the pool of students who apply for the Governor’s Awards of Distinction. Recipients of this award are eligible for the York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship.
