Students must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities and financial need. Preference will be given to students who are graduates of Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario.
If there are no eligible candidates from Westdale Secondary School, then the award will be open to students who were residents of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, on admission to Queen's University.

The Major Admission Award (MAA) application must be submitted online through the Queen’s SOLUS Student Centre. Students are encouraged to submit their Queen’s admission application through the OUAC by November 15 so as to allow enough time to gain access to SOLUS and submit the online MAA application by the December 8 deadline.
A practice MAA application is available on the Student Awards website to assist students in preparing their responses in advance of the deadline.
Recipients will generally receive 1 scholarship of the highest value.
*Students receive the annual value, subject to the renewal conditions within the terms of the award.
