Students must demonstrate superior academic ability, proven leadership qualities and financial need. Students must also be involved in school and community activities and be original and creative thinkers.
For 8 of the awards, preference will be given to students from rural and remote areas of Canada with demonstrated financial need.
For 1 of the awards, preference will be given to a student who is a resident of Quebec with demonstrated financial need.

The Major Admission Award (MAA) application must be submitted online through the Queen’s SOLUS Student Centre. Students are encouraged to submit their Queen’s admission application through the OUAC by November 15 so as to allow enough time to gain access to SOLUS and submit the online MAA application by the December 8 deadline.
A practice MAA application is available on the Student Awards website to assist students in preparing their responses in advance of the deadline.
Recipients will generally receive 1 scholarship of the highest value.
Note: Students receive the annual value, subject to the renewal conditions within the terms of the award.
