Available to full-time undergraduate students entering year 1 from high schools in Waterloo Region. The recipient must have a minimum 10 years residency in Waterloo Region and must demonstrate good academic achievement and participation in extracurricular activities at school or in the community. The recipient must demonstrate financial need, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant) or protected person, and a long-term resident of Ontario.

This is an endowed award, established by The Deer Ridge Charitable Foundation to reflect its concern for the youth of Waterloo Region. Three awards are granted annually.
