Eligible candidates must identify with one or more of the following equity-deserving groups:
- Black students
- Indigenous students
- Students with disabilities
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to those registered in STEM programs who meet the above criteria.
While STEM program enrollment is a preference, the application will be open to all first-year students. STEM program enrollment will be assessed during the adjudication process.

Renseignements additionnels
The CIBC STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Entrance Award – valued at $5,000 CAD – is open to full-time undergraduate students - domestic and international - entering their first year in any program at Laurier.
A total of 15 recipients annually.
Exclusions
- Bachelor of Education (BEd) programs are not eligible, as this is a recruitment-focused award for first-entry undergraduate STEM students.
- Students entering with advanced standing (e.g., transfer credits) will not be considered.
How to Apply
Applications open December 17, 2024.
LORIS is used to complete all student award applications. To learn more about the system and how to use it, see the LORIS page.
- Log in to LORIS.
- Navigate to the "Student Awards and Financial Aid" tab.
- Click the “Student Awards Applications” link to access the CIBC STEM Entrance Award.
Once started, you will be able to review and make changes to your submission up until the deadline.
Application Components
Equity Deserving Groups
Students will be asked to respond to three identification questions within the application.
Financial Need
- A budget form will be included in the application.
- Students must have a complete and error-free full-time OSAP (or equivalent provincial/territorial assistance) application by September 1, 2025.
How to Access Your Application Once Started
- Click the “Student Awards and Financial Aid” tab.
- Click the "View My Applications" link.
- Click to "View/Modify" your CIBC STEM Entrance Award.
- When your application is complete, click the "Submit" button.
- Visit the "View my Applications" tab to ensure the application shows as "submitted".

Deferral of Award
The CIBC STEM Entrance Award cannot be deferred. Students deferring their offer of admission must reapply during the next application cycle.
