Language Requirements

Admission Request in an English program

To be exempted from presenting a language test score, applicants must have studied for at least 3 years of full-time secondary or postsecondary studies at an institution where the language of instruction is strictly English and in a country where the official language is English. Saint Paul University reserves the right to request an English-language test score if deemed necessary.

Admission Request in a French program

If you are applying for an French-language program and you have not completed at least 3 years of full-time study in an institution where French is the only language of instruction, located in a country where French is 1 of the official languages. Saint Paul University reserves the right to request a French-language test score if deemed necessary. you must submit your official score in one of the following language tests recognized by the University: DELF, DALF or TESTcan.

Offers of Admission

Basic Requirements for Admission

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required. A minimum of six 4U, 4M or DU level courses are required, including one 4U level course in English or French. The minimum average required is 70%.

Failed and Repeated Courses

If a course is failed and repeated, we will take the highest of the 2 marks.

Timing and Process for Admission Decisions

Beginning in December 2024, the University will issue early conditional offers of admission for fall 2025 to highly qualified applicants. The University will continue to issue offers of admission to qualified applicants until the end of June 2025.

Early offers are based on the average of 3U/M marks or a combination of 3U/M and available 4U, 4M or DU final marks.

All offers of admission are conditional. Applicants must successfully complete a minimum of 6 eligible 4U, 4M or DU courses and present proof of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma or the equivalent before September 2025. The language prerequisite must be completed at the 4U level.
