Offers of Admission
Basic Requirements for Admission
Ontario high school students must present the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and complete 6 grade 12 4U/M courses. The top 6 courses will be used in the calculation of your overall admission average. All programs require a minimum admission average, which may change depending on the number of applicants. Calculation of a secondary average is considered for students applying to specific programs.
For more information, refer to the UWindsor viewbook, program listing or academic calendar.
Failed and Repeated Courses
The highest achieved grade for a repeated course will be used in the average calculation.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
We will inform you about the status of your application by the stated deadline. UWindsor intends to make admission offers to most programs from early November to July. Admission offers to programs that require the completion of supplemental applications and subsequent auditions and/or interviews will be made after these activities are completed. If you need to complete a supplemental application, you will be sent this material when your OUAC application is received, or you can fill out the appropriate application online. A response deadline applies; contact the Recruitment Office or the respective program area if you have not received your supplemental application by the stated deadline.
Depending on the program, consideration for early admission may be provided based on a minimum 80% in final Grade 11 (3U/M) marks and registration in 6 Grade 12 (4U/M) courses, including prerequisites. Consideration for admission from March until early-May is based on a combination of Grade 11 and 12 marks. Admission requires final grades in a minimum of three 4U/M courses and registration in at least 6, including all 4U prerequisites. These offers will be conditional upon completion of the OSSD. For admission purposes, the average of a minimum of three 4U/M courses, regardless of the number completed or in progress, will be calculated. If you are not considered for early admission, you will be considered for admission based on the average of your best six 4U/M courses, interim or final, following receipt of interim (mid-May) and/or final grades.
If you are not accepted into the program of your choice at UWindsor, you will automatically be considered for alternative offers. Alternative offers of admission will be released at the beginning of March until mid-May. We automatically re-assess applicants for original program(s) based on mid-semester, interim or final marks.
Deferral of admission for 1 year may be granted to high school applicants. Deferrals will not be granted to students studying at another postsecondary institution during this year. For information on scholarship deferral, contact the Student Awards & Financial Aid office.
