Youth in Care Bursary
Laurentian University
Former or current youth in the care of the Children’s Aid Society who are pursuing their first postsecondary degree are eligible for a bursary of $2,000. Students must meet the following conditions:
- Must have been in extended society care in Ontario for a minimum of 1 year.
- Must apply for funding through full-time or part-time OSAP each academic year.
- Students must self-identify as coming from care through the OSAP application process and provide the supporting documentation.
- Students registered in part-time studies (less than 18 credits) will receive a prorated amount.
Priority will be given to first-degree, first-time applicants studying at Laurentian University (collaborative programs are excluded). The bursary is limited to 10 students per academic year. Students will be selected by the number of credits registered and the total unmet need as determined by OSAP. A first disbursement of the bursary will be made during the fall term, and a second will be made in the winter term.
Should bursaries still be available, consideration will be given to students who begin their studies in January and prorated based on the number of credits taken. The bursary is not available for the spring terms.
